“Hannes, mocht je soms behoefte hebben om even rust te nemen, gewoon een pauze tijdens het werk, dat kan hoor, dat mag.” Ik sta in de gang van de kantoorruimtes en ben in gesprek met de directeur. Eens in de zoveel tijd praten we even bij over mijn werkzaamheden als speurhond in het woonzorg centrum. Wat gaat er goed, wat kan nog beter. Wat heb ik allemaal opgespeurd en waar ben ik nog naar op zoek. Gewoon even bijkletsen over de dagelijkse gang van zaken.
De directeur heeft zelf ook honden thuis, dus hij snap dat de boog niet altijd gespannen kan staan. Dat ik niet de hele dag op mijn scherpst ben en af en toe ook een plekje nodig heb om zaken te overdenken. “Mocht je even op adem willen komen, Hannes, dan mag je mijn kamer wel gebruiken. Je weet wel, de directeurskamer links naast de lift.” “Er staat nog wel wat rommel en wat persoonlijke spullen die ik moet uitzoeken maar ruimte genoeg om even een tukkie te doen.”
En zo komt het dat ik later op die middag, terwijl ik al het hele huis ben door gesjouwd op zoek naar een geel schilmesje wat op onverklaarbare wijze is verdwenen uit de keukenla, mij even tactisch terugtrek in de directeurskamer. Even tijd voor mij zelf, even lekker ontspannen. Mijn kleedje ligt er en mijn waterbak. Na een paar minuten mijn ogen dicht te hebben gedaan, voel ik toch een kriebel in mijn neus. Zo’n sterke drang om even orde op zaken te zetten. Had de directeur niet gezegd dat er nog wat rommel stond en persoonlijke spullen die hij nog moest op ruimen. Hoe leuk zou het zijn als ik hem even kan helpen. Gewoon, uit mijzelf, spontaan. Dan hoeft hij het niet te doen, want zijn agenda zit toch al zoveel met belangrijkere zaken.
De eerste tas die ik tegen kom is de tas met persoonlijke spullen, duidelijk gebruikt om onverwachts te kunnen overnachten bij calamiteiten of andere noodzakelijke afspraken. Ik haal uit de enorme boodschappentas een groot hondenkleed. Ik had al verteld dat de directeur zelf ook honden heeft, ze komen soms mee. Dus het hondenkleed heb ik vakkundig uit de tas gehaald en snuffel tussen de andere spullen. Tandenborstel, kam en wattenstaafjes vind ik in een toilettas. Dat kan nuttig zijn, dus die bewaar ik nog even. Een bolletje schone sokken, een leesboek en een reservebril liggen ook in de tas. Ik graaf nog even verder en kom dan helemaal onderin een grote plastic bak met deksel tegen. Mijn hoektand zet ik op de deksel en ik wip de bak open. Hondenvoer! Natuurlijk voor zijn eigen viervoeters. Geen idee hoe lang dat al in de tas zit. Het is een volle bak, nogal zwaar. En ik bedenk mij dat het beter is voor de directeur om een iets minder zware tas te moeten sjouwen. Stel je voor dat hij door zijn rug gaat met zo’n zware tas. Kan ie straks niet werken. Dus ik kan er maar beter voor zorgen dat hij zo licht mogelijke tas heeft om mee te sjouwen. Tot nu toe ben ik nog geen spullen tegen gekomen die weg kunnen, maar deze bak met voer. Daar kan ik wel wat mee. Ik wrik de deksel helemaal van de bak en ik doe mijn best het voer zo snel en efficiënt mogelijk weg te werken. Als het voer zo ongeveer mijn neus uit komt, mijn buik ontzettend is opgezet van het vreemde voer, vallen mijn ogen bijna dicht. Tijd om een lekker plekje te zoeken om even uit te buiken.
Het kleed van de hond van de directeur, daar blijf ik van af. Is niet mijn geur. Mijn eigen kleed, mwah… daar lig ik wel vaker op, dan valt mijn oog op de stoel van de directeur. Zou ik… mag ik…. Ga ik….
Als even later mijn baasje binnenkomt, om te kijken hoe het met mij gaat, zit ik heerlijk onderuitgezakt op de favoriete stoel van de directeur. Ik kan geen boe af bah meer zeggen. In de kamer is de rommel nog niet opgeruimd, daar was ik nog niet aan toe gekomen.
Baasje schudt haar hoofd. “Kan ik je dan ook geen 5 seconden alleen laten, Hannes?” Kan je je dan ook nooit fatsoenlijk gedragen?” “Hoe denk je hier een vaste aanstelling te krijgen, als je je zo gedraagt? “
En ik denk, die promotie, die zit wel snor. Want ik heb net de directeur gered van een medische aandoening door zijn zware tas te verlichten, dus niet zeuren baas, rij de auto maar voor want met die dikke pens van mij kan ik natuurlijk niet mee naast de fiets lopen.
Een echte speurneus ben je, de baas zal je dankbaar zijn🤣
